Selected Petronas service stations will provide free coffee during the Raya balik kampung (homecoming) exodus.

Under its “Coffee Break” campaign, more than 500, 000 free drinks are expected to be served at 31 kiosks from 4pm to 10pm in Peninsula Malaysia and 3pm to 9pm in Sabah and Sarawak.

“Motorists will be refreshed, alert and attentive on the road after having a short rest and some coffee,” said Petronas Dagangan Berhad in a statement.

The first part of the campaign is from Sept 27-29; and the second will be from Oct 3-5.

The campaign, already in its ninth year, is a road safety awareness program to encourage safe driving in conjunction with the festive seasons.

Why are people judged by their Nationalities???

Well, I have never seen person as any other being but a human! If you don't mind, Nationalities differ from each culture thats why people judge people .

Nationality just differ us by the culture and the language we speak. We often judge people when there are differences, and unfamiliarity, but most people tend to change there opinions when the veil is lifted as our understanding of life matures. We gather information about nationalities, how people speak, dress, how they treat visitors, how they respond to difficulties. Then, when we get to know a person from a specific nationality, we compare that person against our 'inner template'. Hopefully, if our heart is still open, we then use that comparison to inform and enrich the relationship.

Moreover, society plays a big role as it has made it that way. I always see every person as a human and thats what we all should be doing. We tend to judge people by their nationalities since we come from different backgrounds and experience different things as we grow depending on the culture. Most countries are well recognized while others are not.

When two men are stood before you, one is an English man, the other is from Somalia. Who are you going to do business with? Its unfair, but common sense isn’t always fair, wisdom can discriminate and still be wise.

Even in minor ways. Like the Scots have the reputation of being really mean, the Irish are all expected to be hard drinkers & fight everyone, the Welsh are said to be dishonest & the English are - well, think I'll pass on that...lol! But joking apart, it is true. (sorry for my examples) Nearly all of us are guilty of it some extent at times.

Many people tend to judge others by their Nationalities. I have been judged many a times by mine, I shall put this down to ignorance. I have met so many beautiful people. There are good and bad everywhere in this world and it has nothing what so ever to do with nationalites. I am proud to say that my parents taught me well, they taught me that we are all equal in this world.

You can get it if you really want - Cliff Jimmy

You can get it if you really want… you can get it if you really want… you can get it if you really want, but you must try , try… and try.. try and try… you succeed at last.

Hovering Around - Malaysiakini

It’s funny to imagine our lives as something we spend a lot of time avoiding, because it seems like that would be impossible to do. Our lives consist of everything we engage in, from showering to sleeping, but also a lot of busy work that distracts us and keeps us from looking at our lives. Experiencing our life from the inside means taking time each day to simply be alone and quiet in the presence of our soul. Many of us are so out of practice that it’s almost unnerving to have a moment to ourselves. As a result, we may have stopped trying to carve out that time to take a seat at the center of our lives.

One of the reasons it can be uncomfortable to sit with ourselves is because when we do, we tend to open ourselves to an inner voice, which might question the way we’re living or some of the choices we’re making. Sometimes the voice reminds us of our secret, inner yearnings, dreams we thought we had forgotten. When we already feel overwhelmed by our busy schedules, the idea of hearing this voice can be exhausting. However, its reflections are the chords that connect us to our authentic selves, and they are the very things that make our lives worth living. When we continually avoid connecting with our life, we risk losing out on the very purpose of our existence.

To begin the process of being more present and less absent in your life, you might want to set aside just a few minutes each day to simply sit with yourself. This doesn’t mean watching a movie or reading a book, but taking time each day for self-examination to avoid the avoidance, to be with yourself in an open way. After a while, you may start to enjoy this part of the day so much that you make less busy work for yourself, so that you can spend more time at the center of your own life, rather than hovering like a planet around the sun.

The Pit

A man fell into a pit and couldn't get himself out.

A SUBJECTIVE person came along and said:
"I feel for you, down there."

An OBJECTIVE person came along and said:
"It's logical that someone would fall down there."

A PHARISEE said:
"Only bad people fall into a pit."

A MATHEMATICIAN calculated
how he fell into the pit.

A NEWS REPORTER wanted
the exclusive story on his pit.

A FUNDAMENTALIST said:
"You deserve your pit."

An I.R.S. AGENT asked
if he was paying taxes on the pit.

A SELF-PITYING person said:
"You haven't seen anything until you've seen MY PIT!"

A CHARISMATIC said:
"Just confess that you're not in a pit."

An OPTIMIST said:
"Things could be worse."

A PESSIMIST said:
"Things will get worse!"

GOD, seeing the man,
Took him by the hand, and
LIFTED HIM OUT of the pit!

Zaid Ibrahim quits (Updated) - malaysiakini

De facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister.

However, it is known yet whether Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has accepted Zaid's resignation.

According to sources, the senator tendered his letter of resignation to the Prime Minister's office just before 2pm on Monday.

Zaid could not be reached for confirmation.

The former Kota Baru MP was not fielded to stand in the March 8 general election.

Following the general election, however, Abdullah appointed him a Senator and a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

In announcing his new Cabinet on March 18, Abdullah said that Zaid would be responsible for legal matters and take on the role to reform the judiciary.

It was only last Tuesday that Zaid said he might soon become a full-blown Law Minister with the requisite authority and responsibility to help him effect legal reform.

“In fact, my own position will be reviewed to Minister of Law to give me more authority but that will take time. You can’t have responsibility without authority,” he had said then.

However on Sunday, Zaid broke from rank to say that the use of the Internal Security Act against civilians was wrong, adding that he was prepared to resign over the issue.

GOD SAID 'NO'

I asked God to take away my grief,
And God said “NO.”
He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to work through.

I asked God to make my broken heart whole,
And God said “NO.”
He said my spirit is whole.
My pain is only temporary.

I asked God to take away my pride
And God said “NO.”
He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to give up.

I asked God to grant me patience
And God said “NO.”
He said patience is a by-product of tribulation.
It isn’t granted, it’s earned.

I asked God to give me happiness
And God said “NO.”
He said He gives His blessings,
Happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me from pain
And God said “NO.”
He said sufferings draw you apart from
Worldly cares and brings you closer to Him.

I asked God to make my spirit grow
And God said “NO.”
He said I must grow on my own,
But He will prune me to make me fruitful.

I asked God if He loved me
And God said “YES.”
He gave His only Son who died for me,
And I will be in heaven someday because I believe.

I asked God to help me love others
As much as He loves me
And God said,
“Ah, you finally have the idea!”

MORNING PONDER

There are two kinds of writer: those that make you think, and those that make you wonder.

What is written without effort is in generally read without pleasure.

When we read, we stat at the beginning and continue until we reach the end. When we write, we start in the middle and fight our way out.

Forget all the rules. Forget about being published. Write for yourself and celebrate writing.

If you can’t annoy somebody, there is little point in writing.

The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas.

Our Deepest Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

10 STEPS TO STOP WORRYING

All human beings worry sometime or the other. The following ten steps can help you keep your worries at bay.

Step 1: Never worry alone. Talk to someone about your problems. This will help put your problems in proper perspctive.

Step 2: Get the facts: Find out if your worry has any basis. Write down what is worrying you, it will help you isolate and identify the problem.

Step3: Take action. Don’t waste your time or energy on worrying. Try to confront and resolve your problems. Avoiding difficulties creates more stress in the long run.

Step 4: Take care of your body: exercise daily, eat healthy food and get enough sleep, because exercising will help relax your muscles. Taking care of your body physically will not only reduce tension, but also gives more energy to deal with the problem.

Step 5: Live for the moment : don’t worry about what will happen in the future and what happened in the past. Focus instead on the present.

step 6: Be positive: always focus on the positive side of things instead of brooding on negative thoughts. Develop a sense of humour.

Step 7: Set aside a worry period of about 30 minutes to think about your problems, arrive at solutions and ease your tensions.

Step 8: Remain busy: plenty of action is a cure for worry. Keeping yourself busy eliminates negative thoughts from your mind.

Step 9: Avoid self – medication: do not resort to taking unnecessary drugs or alcohol. Take professional help, if needed.

Step 10: Finally, count your blessings: whenever your worries make you feel low, think of the blessings. You will start to feel better.

Motivational Thoughts

A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

A loser doesn’t know what he’ll do if he loses, but talks about what he’ll do if he wins, and a winner doesn’t talk about what he’ll do if he wins, but knows what he’ll do if he loses.

A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want.

A man can fail many times, but he isn’t a failure until he begins to blame somebody else.

A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.

A man is what he thinks about all day long.

A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been in the wrong, which is but saying that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.

A man who does not think for himself does not think at all.

A man’s dreams are an index to his greatness.

A market is never saturated with a good product, but it is very quickly saturated with a bad one.

A poor man is not the one without a cent. A poor man is the one without a dream.

A wise man gets more use from his enemies than a fool from his friends.

A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.

Accept fate, and move on. Don’t yield to the seductive pull of self-pity. Acting like a victim threatens your future.

Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.

Amazing facts…

Black Widow Spider
The Black Widow is easily identifiable by the distinctive red markings on its stomach. It is a large widow spider found throughout the world and commonly associated with urban habitats or agricultural areas. The Black Widow’s venom is 15 times more potent than a rattlesnakes.

Brazilian Wandering Spider
This spider kills around five people a year. Symptoms include immediate pain, heavy perspiration and drooling. Often hides in bunches of bananas.

Arsenic
Anyone swallowing large amounts of arsenic will usually die within a few hours following seizures and shock. If death does not occur at this earlier stage your kidneys will pack in and you will be dead within days.

Capsaicin
This is the chemical that makes chillis hot, but in its purest form it is strong enough to kill you if you eat it. Will cause burns and blistering in contact with human skin.

Inland Taipan Snake
This lethal Aussie crawler is 50 times more deadly than the Indian cobra. A salt-grain-sized amount of its venom can kill a human.

Death Cap Mushroom
One of the most toxic fungi, 30g is enough to kill a human. Symptoms include jaundice, lethargy, sweats and dizziness, Usually the only treatment is a liver transplant.

Deathstalker Scorpion
Found in the hot climates of North Africa and the Middle East, the Deathstalker can kill a human with a single stab of its barbed tail.

Dioxin
Reputed to be the most dangerous man-made poison, it is 60,000 times more toxic than cyanide. A dose of only 50 micrograms is lethal for a human - that’s a 1,000th of a small pill.

Death Lily
Leaves can be confused with wild onions. Found in America and Siberia. It’s fatal to humans and animals. Symptoms start with burning lips and grow to slow heart beat, low temperature, coma and finally death.

Golden Poison Frog
Found in Colombia, this tiny 1.5ins frog is the world’s most poisonous creature. The lethal venom is on its skin and it kills anything that eats it. An average frog carries about one milligram of poison, which is enough to kill 10,000 mice or 10 to 20 humans.

Anthrax
Contamination often comes from exposure to infected animals. Symptoms include vomiting blood and respiratory collapse. It killed five people in the US in 2001 who were received it in the post.

Stonefish
Found on the sea bed off Australia, the stonefish’s sharp dorsal spines contain enough poison to kill a human if trodden on. Death can occur within hours of being stung.

Your Dreams May Be Closer
Than You Think!

There may be times when you feel
as if you have taken a million steps towards
your dreams, and acted on your plans, only to find
yourself in the same place that you began from.
At times like this, you must not give up.

You must continue on. Though you may feel
lost, bewildered, and alone, continue to believe
in yourself. Do not allow discouragement and
doubt to blur your vision and wash away
your dreams. Visualize your way beyond the
detours, standstills, and obstacles.

You will realize your dreams. You have
worked hard and taken so many productive
steps in a positive direction that you are bound
to succeed. Whatever the hurt of the moment
may be, it will pass. Tomorrow is always a
new dawn. Today, you must pause, rest, catch
your breath, and then look ahead. Each step
will bring you closer to your dreams. The
rainbows and the love that you deserve are in
sight. Happiness is just around the next turn.

Within You Is The Strength

To Meet Life's Challenges!

You are stronger than you think,
remember to stand tall.

Every challenge in your life
helps you to grow.

Every problem you encounter
strengthens your mind and your soul.

Every trouble you overcome
increases your understanding of life.

When all your troubles weigh
heavily on your shoulders,
remember that beneath the burden
you can stand tall,
because you are never given
more than you can handle...
and you are stronger than you think.

A Creed To Live By

Don't undermine your worth by comparing
yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Don't set your goals by what other people
deem important.

Only you know what is best for you.
Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life, for without them
life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers
by living in the past or for the future.
By living your life one day at a time,
you live all the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect.
It is this fragile thread that binds us to each other.
Don't be afraid to encounter risks.

It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love.
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Don't dismiss your dreams.

To be without dreams is to be without hope;
to be without hope is to be without purpose.
Don't run through life so fast that you forget
not only where you've been, but also where you're going.
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored
each step of the way.

Raja Petra arrested under ISA - malaysiakini

Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin was arrested Friday afternoon under the Internal Security Act.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar told The Star Raja Petra was detained under Section 73 (1) of the ISA as he was deemed a threat to security, peace and public order.

He said that under Section 73 (1) Raja Petra would be detained for 60 days.

“The police will do an assessment during this period and if they feel he should be held more than 60 days, the police will then refer to me,” he said.

Syed Hamid also confirmed that Sin Chew Daily, The Sun and Suara Keadilan were issued show cause letters.

"They have been given a week to reply," he added.

Raja Petra's wife Marina Lee Abdullah said the blogger was arrested at 1.10pm at their home in Sg Buloh by a team of 10 police officers.

She told The Star that Raja Petra was taken away from their house by the police about 1.50pm.

"But I don't know where they are taking him," she added.

She said that the police officers also took some 15 VCDs on ceramahs held by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from the house.

PKR Information Chief Tian Chua told The Star before leaving for Taiwan that he was informed of Raja Petra’s arrest by party colleagues.

“RPK’s daughter sent a SMS to say that her father was arrested about 1.10pm (Friday),” he said when contacted before he boarded China Airlines flight CI 0656, which was scheduled to depart KLIA at 2.20pm Friday.

Raja Petra’s arrest comes a day after the Cabinet ordered the Multimedia and Communications Commission (MCMC) to reinstate access to all blocked websites, including the controversial Malaysia Today.

Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said on Thursday the order was made because there were other “harsher” laws in the country, under which authorities could take action against the owners of blogs and websites, instead of blocking it.

“The Cabinet has asked the ministry to direct MCMC to reinstate access to any blocked website with immediate effect.

“At the same time, it is asking MCMC to closely cooperate with the police, the Attorney-General’s Office and the Home Minister to monitor any website or blog to ensure that this does not contain seditious, racist or religiously insensitive remarks.

“Instead of blocking access to offensive websites, the Cabinet wants authorities to investigate and act quickly against the owners of these sites,” he said in Putrajaya.

The Morning Glory

Photobucket Image Hosting

I awaken to the glory of the morning,
sunshine streaking, birds cheerfully cheeping,
another day is born.

The Morning Glory inaudibly climbs,
and shares its shy beauty, so rare.
And, we know that behind its mystery,
Our Creative God is there.

He blesses us with sunshine,
He blesses us with rain,
because it’s only through the showers,
that do we not, remain the same.

So, as this new day awakens,
and I’m cradled securely in Your arms,
May Your love forever keep me safe,
and sheltered from all storms.

To My Email Friend…

You’re someone I’ve come to know,
With a smile so bright and sweet.
It represents your lovely heart.
I’m pleased that we could meet.

Your love for God shows,
The love you feel inside.
You share with those, you come to know,
These feelings you can’t hide.

I’m grateful for your light that shines.
It brightens all my days.
I pray you feel the love I give,
In meek and humble ways.

SEPTEMBER 11 2001

The morning of September 11th was a bright day.
And that Tuesday started out like any ordinary day.

It was an ordinary day for those passengers.
In Boston, New York and Washington airports.
Who rushed to their airplanes,
Without any doubt or suspicions.
About those few guys who sat by their sides,
Who eventually would become their killers.

It was an ordinary day for thousands of workers,
Who rushed to their offices in the Twin Towers.
It was an ordinary day for Pentagon employees,
Who reported early in the morning for their duties.

All of a sudden an ordinary day became extraordinay.
And it ended like no other day in U.S. history.
Those who started out the day like any other day,
Were caught in a sudden shock, dismay and disbelief,
That left the nation, their families and friends in lasting grief.

Following surprise attacks
In New York and Washington D.C.
Across the length and width of the earth reactions reverberated
By the images of 9/11 people were horrified and troubled.

From Americas to Asia
From Africa to Australia
Laws were revised and rewritten
Nation-States were determined not to let it happen again.

September 11 introduced a new chapter of history
A brand new chapter was borne out of tragedy
Which is filled with actions and reactions.

Al-Qaida,Taliban, Terrorists,
Combatants…
Millions of Americans have to learn a new vocabulary
A vocabulary which reminds September 11 for all of us
For all of us: from all races and religions.

If I Had Only Known

If I had only known the road would be so long
I would have danced a little slower
I would have sang a different song

If I had only known
when I was young and free
I would have made so many different choices
Taken better care of me

If I had only known
the road would be so long
I would have stood in the rain longer
Moved far away from here
Walked on a beach in the moonlight
Watched the sun set into night

It is not for me to know how long the road will be
I need to thank God for the blessings
He has indeed bestowed on me
I will dance a little slower
And sing a different song
For God is traveling by my side
He has been there all along

Singing in the Shower

Photobucket Image Hosting

There's so many things I'd like to tell you
But this is just me talking to myself
My thoughts are blown in the wind
Completely incoherent to you
But so full of meaning for me
How could you possibly understand?
People come and go in my life
To share a part of it with me
Then they go again leaving me more
Enriched by their presence
And a little sadder
For not having known them a little longer
But I'm just singing in the shower
Everyone listens but no one hears

Umno suspends Ahmad three years (full update) - MALAYSIAKINI

Umno has suspended Bukit Bendera division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail from the party for three years over his alleged racist comments.

He has been stripped of his division chief post and all its rights as a member. Thus, he cannot vote in the coming party elections, cannot contest for posts and will not be able to attend the Umno general assembly during the three-year period.

The suspension is effective immediately.

Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Abullah Ahmad Badawi announced the decision Wednesday after a special supreme council meeting convened specifically to discuss Ahmad’s case.

The action was taken in accordance with Section 20(9) of the party constitution.

“Many Umno supreme council members gave their views and we are of the opinion that Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s comments and actions have caused worry, protest and anger among Barisan Nasional,” he said.

During the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign, Ahmad caused a furore when he allegedly said the Chinese in the country were immigrants and squatters and thus did not deserve equal rights.

He refused to apologise or retract his statement. After a press conference on Monday, Ahmad’s supporters went to the extent of tearing up a poster of Gerakan acting president and Penang state Barisan chairman Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.

This led to Penang Gerakan and Penang MCA severing ties with Penang Umno, and for Barisan Nasional to convene a supreme council meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Barisan component parties said they were unhappy with Ahmad’s comments and asked that Umno take “immediate and stern action” against him, which led to the special Umno supreme council meeting being convened.

When announcing the decision to suspend Ahmad, Abdullah -- also the Barisan chairman -- said the Umno supreme council also wanted other component parties to act sternly and take disciplinary action against their own members if they committed a similar offence.

“All components parties must be firm. If any of their members make comments which whip up racial sentiment and cause anger among the races, and which could jeopardise ties between Barisan component parties, they must take disciplinary action,” he said.

To a question, Abdullah said Ahmad had the right to appeal the supreme council decision.

Later, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the decision to suspend Ahmad unanimous.

After stopping 10 busloads of his supporters on their way to the Putra World Trade Centre where the supreme council meeting was being held, Ahmad said he would not retract his statements, but urged his supporters and all Malays to remain calm.

At a press conference, he said he accepted Umno supreme council’s decision to suspend him, but added he would “make a comeback.”

He accused Gerakan’s Dr Koh of “raising temperatures” on the issue of race relations.

Dr Koh was one of the many leaders who had asked Ahmad to apologise to the Chinese community.

He also denied that he had torn down a picture of Dr Koh at a press conference on Monday.

Abdullah also said that the Cabinet at its meeting Wednesday had discussed racial relations in the country.

“The Cabinet feels that racial tension may arise if sensitive issues are raised. The Cabinet has ordered ministries with laws pertaining to this to enforce them.

“If it is necessary, the ISA may be used on those who stoke racial tension,” he added.

Insufficient punishment

In GEORGE TOWN, Penang Chinese leaders said the three-year suspension was too light a sentence for the defiant Ahmad, who had refused to apologise for his remarks even after being advised to so by the Prime Minister himself.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said Ahmad should be expelled from Umno, not merely suspended.

“If he had apologised, it would be different,” he said.

He also said Umno should disassociate itself from a person who made such racist remarks and refused to apologise for them.

“What the people think is more important here. This is not just about what he (Ahmad) had said,” said Lim.

He said the issue had made the Chinese people feel rejected and threats had even been hurled at the journalist who first reported on the issue.

“This is unacceptable. In fact, action should also be taken against Penang Umno and all the local Umno leaders who support Ahmad and his stand,” he said.

State MCA deputy chairman Lau Chiek Tuan said Penang MCA was unhappy with the three-year suspension.

“He is only suspended from his party. But he still owes the Chinese people an apology. The suspension has nothing to do with the apology.”

Others satisfied

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said the party welcomed the suspension, adding that this showed that Umno had honoured the collective decision made by the Barisan Supreme Council on Tuesday that stern action should be taken.

“Today, Umno’s decision showed that Umno has drawn a clear line (away) from the racist remark, which had hurt the feeling of the Chinese community,” he said.

He said this incident should serve as a lesson to all politicians.

“Let us move on and continue to work hard for better economy growth and to ensure the stability of the country,” he said.

Ong said he wished to see Barisan continue to reform and re-engineer itself in order to regain the people’s confidence.

Gerakan’s Dr Koh also saw the move as “a step in the right direction.”

“We hope this will serve as deterrent against similarly irresponsible and insensitive actions,” he said in a statement.

Dr Koh said it is incumbent that the police take the necessary action in accordance with the relevant legal provisions and procedures as several police reports had been lodged against Ahmad.

“In the meantime, Barisan Nasional should proceed with the Code of Conduct as proposed by me and announced by Barisan chairman Abdullah on Tuesday,” Koh said.

“We should also redouble our efforts in promoting greater understanding, harmony and unity amongst Malaysians from all ethnic and social backgrounds,” he said.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said Umno’s decision sent a very strong signal to all parties that everyone must be sensitive and take care of the feelings of other races.

“We are happy to know that Umno has followed the Barisan’s decision to take action against Ahmad and it is only through the Barisan we can solve the problems of a multiracial society.

“This development also means that the Barisan spirit is going very strong and that taking care of all races is still of the utmost importance for the coalition,” he said.

Prosecution applies to transfer Anwar's case to high court.

KUALA LUMPUR: The prosecution on Wednesday applied to have Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case transferred to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Anwar's case was set to be mentioned at the Jalan Duta court on Wednesday.

There was heavy police presence outside the Jalan Duta court complex here early Wednesday in anticipation of the crowd expected.

Several truckloads of FRU personnel were deployed in addition to armed uniformed policemen.

Anwar arrived at the court complex at 9.30am in a black Mazda MPV.

He was accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, daughter and lawyer Sankara Nair.

On alighting the car, Anwar was immediately surrounded by members of the press.

Speaking to reporters, Anwar said: "I'm not sure what will happen in court today. I hope bail would not be withheld. There is no basis for the charge in the first place so why talk about the bail?"

His lawyer Sankara said: "If the DPP wants to deny Anwar bail, they'll have to apply and we will respond. The same goes for transferring the case to another court."

Commenting on the Sept 16 deadline for the opposition to form a new government, Anwar said, "Is Sept 16 on track? Very much so. We will comment on that issue in the next one or two days. Next trip, Taipei!"

Anwar then slowly moved to the lift inside the court house to get to the fourth floor where his case was to be mentioned.

The PKR adviser was charged on Aug 7 with sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. He pleaded not guilty.

He is accused of committing the offence at Desa Damansara Condominium in Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara, between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26.

If convicted, he can be jailed up to 20 years and whipped for voluntarily committing unnatural sex under Section 377B of the Penal Code.

The Empowered Woman

The Empowered Woman, she moves through the world
with a sense of confidence and grace.
Her once reckless spirit now tempered by wisdom.
Quietly, yet firmly, she speaks her truth without doubt or hesitation
and the life she leads is of her own creation.

She now understands what it means to live and let live.
How much to ask for herself and how much to give.
She has a strong, yet generous heart
and the inner beauty she emanates truly sets her apart.
Like the mythical Phoenix,
she has risen from the ashes and soared to a new plane of existence,
unfettered by the things that once that posed such resistance.

Her senses now heightened, she sees everything so clearly.
She hears the wind rustling through the trees;
beckoning her to live the dreams she holds so dearly.
She feels the softness of her hands
and muses at the strength that they possess.
Her needs and desires she has learned to express.
She has tasted the bitter and savored the sweet fruits of life,
overcome adversity and pushed past heartache and strife.

And the one thing she never understood,
she now knows to be true,
it all begins and ends with you.

Rules For Being Human

1. You Will Receive A Body
You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.

2. You Will Learn Lessons
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school, you will have the opportunity to learn lessons - you may like the lesson or think them irrelevant and stupid.

3. There Are No Mistakes, Only Lessons
There is a process of trial and error; experimentation. The 'failed' experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately 'works'.

4. A Lesson Is Repeated Until It Is Learned
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning Lessons Does Not End.
There is no part of Life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

6. 'There' Is No Better Than 'here'.
When your 'there' has become a 'here', you will simply obtain another 'there' that will again look better than 'here'.

7. Others Are Merely Mirrors Of You.
You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What You Make Of Your Life Is Up To You.
You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your Answers Lie Inside You.
The answers to Life's questions lie inside you. All you need do is look, listen and trust.

10. You Will Forget All This.

11. You Can Remember It Whenever You Want

Heaven and Hell, The Real Difference - Malaysiakini

A man spoke with the Lord
about heaven and hell.

The Lord said to the man,
"Come, I will show you hell."

They entered a room where a group of
people sat around a huge pot of stew.
Everyone was famished,
desperate and starving.

Each held a spoon that reached the pot,
but each spoon had a handle so much
longer than their own arm that it could not
be used to get the stew into their own mouths.

The suffering was terrible.

"Come, now I will show you heaven,"
the Lord said after a while.

They entered another room, identical to the first -
the pot of stew, the group of people, the same long-handled spoons.
But there everyone was happy and well-nourished.

"I don't understand," said the man.
"Why are they happy here when they were miserable
in the other room and everything was the same?"

The Lord smiled.
"Ah, it is simple," he said. "Here they have learned to feed each other."

IN YOUR EYES...

Photobucket

In your eyes, the Angels dance,
In your smile, the heavens rejoice,
Through your voice, cherubs sing, and
Through your touch, all pain is healed.

In your eyes, the Angels dance,
To a tune of joy so wild, and
Deep inside, I see some more,
A world so full of warmth and peace.

In your eyes, the Angels dance,
And if I could, yes, I would join,
In your world of love and fantasy,
Far from the flight of imagination
.

A Woman's Prelude

Photobucket

When you left
tears led your train away.
Had the year passed in one year,
this love would not hold it's fragrance, dear,
this love would not upset, but grow.

Now that you are gone,
these tears do feel their value --
yet no tears may compensate,
the love they wash, too rare...

I smile.

Not from release, but strength.
Your love did not leave that day,
it remained, here in my world.
Your face transforms daily;
the love you gave, I keep.

It fills these nights --
Winds too cold for travel,
Feelings too warm for sleep.

Silent thundertears

Photobucket

Silent thundertears
invade the shadow-shelter world
I’ve built on stilts
melting into the high tide.

The soft remembrance
of feelings felt between us
body-tremors me to a smile.

You’re on the wind of leaving…
We will never meet again…

Above the rough roar
of silent thundertears,
bathing on the beach
of yesterday…

I still nestle with you in that..
the most favored corner
of my memories.

Altantuya trial: 'UTK source of explosives'

Evidence in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial has pointed towards the Unit Tindakan Khas (Special Action Unit) as being the source of the explosives used to blow her up, a High Court here heard.

Lead prosecutor DPP Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah, continuing his submissions at the end of the prosecution's case, first pointed out that there was no record of explosives used up during the elite squad's training.

"It was on a trust basis and no inspections were done in the homes of officers and the rank and file in respect of ammunition, firearms and explosives," he said, adding that both C/Insp Azilah Hadri and Kpl Sirul Azhar Umar had undergone basic training on explosives.

DPP Tun Abd Majid said that although UTK training officer Deputy Supt M.V. Sri Kumar had testified that it was the responsibility of the officer or personnel whom the explosives were issued to return them to the store, he could not speak for others.

"Clearly, DSP Sri Kumar was not the one responsible for collecting and returning the explosives from the store. He was only the officer in charge," he said.

DPP Tun Abd Majid said several other police witnesses had confirmed that the explosives residue recovered from the crime scene was of the same type used by the UTK.

"Thus it is submitted that there is sufficient evidence to show that the explosives substances found at the scene came from the UTK and that C/Insp Azilah and Kpl Sirul Azhar had access to them and had the opportunity to smuggle them out," the prosecutor argued.

Rebutting a contention that there was no explosion on the night Altantuya was murdered, DPP Tun Abd Majid referred to the testimony of former post-blast investigations head Deputy Supt Muhammad Koey Abdullah that the surrounding trees at the scene must have absorbed the sound of the explosion.

The prosecutor pointed out that Mustaffa Umat, the auxiliary policeman stationed at a dam near the scene who claimed he heard firecrackers that night, had also testified that he had never heard a bomb go off before.

"That explains why he could not tell whether what he heard was an explosion from a bomb," he submitted.

On the presence of the two UTK operatives at Hotel Malaya as captured by closed-circuit television cameras, DPP Tun Abd Majid said the most probable inference would be that they were carrying out surveillance on the deceased.

This, he said, was because a note bearing political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda's handwriting of Altantuya's name and where she was putting up had been found in a bag in C/Insp Azilah's cubicle in Bukit Aman.

The hearing continues on Thursday.

Where is Ahmad Ismail??? - Malaysiakini

Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail, who has had police reports lodged against him, did not turn up for an interview with the police on Tuesday.

Police are still waiting for him to give his statement over seditious remarks he allegedly made in the run-up to the Aug 26 Permatang Pauh by-election.

State deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid said an investigating officer contacted the Umno leader early this week, asking him to turn up at the Bukit Mertajam district police headquarters on Tuesday.

"But he never turned up and the interview was rescheduled to today (Wednesday) afternoon," SAC Salleh said.

As at 5.45pm, he had still not turned up.

Attempts to contact Ahmad over the past few days to get his side of the story have been unsuccessful. A check by The Star around on Wednesday found his bungalow in the exclusive Robina Park in Butterworth deserted.

"Five reports have been lodged against him in George Town, Bukit Mertajam, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya over the past week.

"Once Ahmad gives his statement, we hope to wrap our investigations by Friday as most of the statements by others have been taken. The file will then be sent to the Attorney-General in Putrajaya for further action," SAC Salleh told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday morning.

Ahmad is being investigated under 4 (1) (b) of the Sedition Act 1948, he said, urging people to let the police do their work.

Ahmad had allegedly called Malaysian-Chinese pendatang (immigrants) at a ceramah (political address) prior to the Permatang Pauh by-election. His statement caused a furore and has been condemned by parties on either side of the political divide.
